Police Department

The Police Department is responsible for all law enforcement services within the City of Eureka. Major activities include:

  1. To prevent crime and maintain law and order in the City by enforcing laws of the United States and City except where enforcement is by law vested in another office or officer.
  2. To maintain crime prevention and law enforcement systems and facilities in efficient operational condition.
  3. To train such volunteers and reserve personnel as may reasonably be required to augment regular full-time manpower; and
  4. To perform such other duties as the City Manager may direct.

The mission of the Police Department is to improve the quality of life through a community partnership which promotes safety and security. It is our goal to reduce the rate of property and violent crimes against persons in our City. It is also our goal to build public trust and to work diligently to reduce crime and violence through community based policing strategies.

The City of Eureka 9-1-1- Communications Center is responsible for answering and directing all 9-1-1 and emergency calls made within the City of Eureka. The Center provides dispatching services for the City Police and Fire Departments, Humboldt Fire Protection District #1, Blue Lake Fire District, and Samoa Peninsula Fire District.
